Bonding

Bonding is the adhesion of composite restorative material to natural teeth. Bonding is one of the most cosmetic of dental procedures. It allows us to reshape and lengthen natural teeth.
How is it done?
Usually no additional tooth structure is required. The tooth is first cleaned and polished, than an etchant
(a milt acidic liquid) is placed on the tooth. The etchant is than rinsed off giving the surface of the tooth a chalky, slightly porous texture. The bonding material (composite resin) is than shade matched to the tooth and sculpted and shaped onto the tooth structure. It is than hardened by a special ultraviolet blue light. The result is remarkably esthetic!
